On February 22, 2014, the Beta Eta Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. will be hosting its 3rd annual Black Girls Rock program in the TUC-Mainstreet Cinema. Black Girls Rock is an event that seeks to build the self-esteem and self-worth of young women of color by highlighting and recognizing the achievements of African-American students, faculty and staff at the University of Cincinnati. Our goal is also to inspire younger women by encouraging self-worth, goals, and aspirations by also reinforcing the message that young women must not objectify themselves or relinquish their autonomy. This year we will be honoring five students and five faculty/staff members. The student recipients are: Amara Agomuo, Makeda Matthews, Dymonica Hurdle, Johnneca Johnson, and Olivia Smith. The faculty recipients are: Dr. Robin Martin, Dr. Nicole Ausmer, Dr. Karen Bankston, LaDreka Karikari, and Sha-Kim Ray.  This event is free and open to the campus community.  There will be a live band, refreshments, and a surprise guest speaker. Come out and join us as we celebrate the accomplishments of these outstanding women!
